Contact Field Orchestra : Mapping The Futures Gone By

Mapping The Futures Gone By is the third installment by the California based producer Damon Aaron a.k.a Contact Field Orchestra (CFO). The ‘rustique guitare’ handling present on this album will surely quench your bluesy thirst and country appetite. The free spirited woodwind by Michael Mcdaniel moulds an atmosphere of its own and also simultaneously correlates with the rhythm and exceptional percussion instruments.

Previously on Hit and Run records, Contact Field Orchestra released Vol.1 and Vol.2, which were as rock-solid as the 3rd. Preceding CFO, Damon Aaron himself released records such as Highlands on Ubiquity records, Autumn ep on Fleischman audio and a few more, but that was before the artist stumbled on 7″tapes on an estate sale that turned to be field recordings of a turn-of-the century orchestra of San Gabriel miners who turned musicians. After having made adjustments with those tapes, it was the turn of Damian Aaron to become CFO.

Futhermore, CFO had contributed to the Ninja Tune’s ‘Solid Steel’ mix and not to mention that their track ‘in the cave’ appeared on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Bubblers Vol 10.
